In short

In Torrox we fill in or remove pools, demolish terraces and outbuildings, take out old walls and clear the plot afterwards. The municipality has two centres – the historic village at about 120 m and Torrox Costa, where most people live – and its land runs up the Torrox river valley, so jobs range from community pools on the coast to finca pools on terraced hillsides. Owners abroad can manage it in English.

Torrox Costa and the village: two different jobs

Torrox belongs to La Axarquía, on the Costa del Sol Oriental, at the foot of the Sierra de Almijara. It has two centres: the village of Torrox, which is essentially its historic core at about 120 m, and Torrox Costa, where most of the population lives. The municipal area stretches up the Torrox river valley, with country houses and fincas spread over the slopes between them.

  • Torrox Costa: apartment complexes, townhouses and villas, many owned by people who live abroad for part of the year, with community and private pools close to neighbours.
  • The valley and the hills: fincas and country villas with a pool on a terrace, often added years after the house, together with storerooms, casetas and stone or block walls.
  • The village: compact houses in the historic core, where pools are rare but patios, terraces and small outbuildings come up.

Finca pools in the valley: infill and levelling

On a country plot up the valley, a pool is rarely in the way of anything that will be built later, so a properly drained pool infill is usually the practical choice. The walls are cut down below the future ground level, the floor is broken open so water can escape, and the clean crushed concrete from the walls forms the lower layer, with soil compacted on top. Reusing that material on site also means fewer trips along a narrow country track.

Because these pools sit on terraces, the surface left behind has to tie into the slope so that rain runs off safely and does not collect against the terrace wall below. That shaping and compaction is part of our groundworks and levelling after demolition. The guide on levelling a plot after demolition explains what a basic level includes and where landscaping takes over.

Casetas, storerooms and old walls on country plots

Fincas around Torrox often have a collection of small buildings: tool stores, pump houses, old animal pens and carports, plus walls that once divided terraces of fruit trees. They can be taken down alongside the pool through our terrace and outbuilding demolition and wall and fence removal services. Two cautions apply: a wall that holds back a terrace is only removed after a técnico has assessed it, and a fibre-cement roof that may contain asbestos is removed by a RERA-registered company working as our subcontractor, with that waste kept apart from everything else.

Procedure, rubble and working from abroad

Which procedure applies to a demolition in Torrox – declaración responsable or licence – is checked with the town hall before work starts; the ayuntamiento sets its own documents and timings, so confirm them with your técnico. In or near the historic core, ask your técnico whether any protection applies. A skip or lorry on the public road needs an occupation permit. The owner and their técnico handle those applications, and we work with their documentation.

Material is sorted on site – concrete and ceramics, metal, wood and plastics separately – and delivered to an authorised facility, with the receipts passed to you. You can write to us in English, send photos of the pool and the track, and follow the job remotely. For whole-house demolition, see demolition in Torrox on our sister site.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work both in Torrox Costa and in the valley?

Yes. We cover Torrox Costa, the historic village and the fincas and country houses up the Torrox river valley.

Is it better to fill in or remove a pool on a finca?

If nothing will be built on that spot, a drained and compacted infill is usually enough and keeps lorry trips down. A full removal makes sense if you plan to build there.

The track to my finca is narrow. Can you still do the job?

Yes. We use smaller vehicles and reuse clean rubble from the pool walls as backfill, which reduces the material that has to leave the plot.

Can you remove the old pump house and walls around the terraces?

Yes, in the same job. Walls that retain a terrace are only removed after a técnico has assessed them.

My storeroom has a corrugated fibre-cement roof. What happens to it?

It may contain asbestos, so it is removed by a RERA-registered subcontractor under its own approved work plan and handled separately as hazardous waste.

Our complex in Torrox Costa wants to reduce its pool. Where do we start?

With an agreement of the owners' meeting, as the pool is a common element. The administrator and the community's técnico then plan the job with us.

What does selective demolition mean?

Taking a structure apart so that materials are separated as they are removed. In Spain selective demolition has been mandatory since 1 January 2024.

Do you work with my architect or builder?

Yes. We work from your técnico's documentation and coordinate dates with your architect, builder or landscaper.

Do you clear land with only vegetation on it?

Pure vegetation clearing is not a standard service. Ask us and we will tell you whether we can help or who to contact.

How do you protect the rest of the garden?

We agree the machine route in advance, protect paving and paths where needed and keep the work area fenced off.
