In short
In Benalmádena we fill in or remove pools, demolish terraces and garden walls, and clear the plot afterwards. It is a highly urbanised municipality running from the Sierra de Mijas down to the sea, so plots are compact and often steep, and a skip on the street needs a municipal permit. Many jobs are planned entirely with owners who live abroad.
Benalmádena's three centres and the pools we find in each
Benalmádena lies on the Costa del Sol Occidental between Torremolinos and Fuengirola, and its population is concentrated in three centres: Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Costa. Each one tends to produce a different kind of job.
| Area | Typical property | Typical request |
|---|---|---|
| Benalmádena Costa, Torrequebrada, La Perla-Torremuelle | Villas and townhouses on hillside plots facing the sea | Pool removed or reduced, terrace rebuilt with a view |
| Arroyo de la Miel | Houses and small chalets in a dense street grid | Small pool filled in, garden wall or outbuilding taken down |
| Benalmádena Pueblo | Village houses and villas on the slopes around it | Terraces and patio pools on tight, stepped plots |
Whatever the area, the choice between an infill and a full pool demolition depends on what you want to do with that spot afterwards.
Steep plots from the Sierra de Mijas to the sea
The municipality runs from the summits of the Sierra de Mijas, including Mount Calamorro at 769 m, to the sea, and Benalmádena Pueblo sits about 3 km inland at roughly 200 m. In practice this means stepped gardens, stairs instead of paths, and pools set on terraces above the neighbour's roof. On that kind of plot we often work without a machine in the garden: the pool walls are cut and broken by hand, and the rubble is lowered or carried to the street in controlled loads.
Where a pool rests against a retaining wall, the wall usually stays and only the pool shell goes. That is one of the reasons we ask for photos of the whole plot, not just the pool, before giving a method.
Skips and the public road in Benalmádena
Benalmádena does not allow the public road to be occupied with skips or building materials without a permit, under its fiscal ordinance OF-18. On a street of townhouses in Arroyo de la Miel or a narrow access road in Torrequebrada, where the skip or lorry can stand is often the first practical question of the whole job.
Before work starts, the right procedure (declaración responsable or licence) is checked with the ayuntamiento and, if there is a skip or scaffolding on the street, a public-road occupation authorisation is needed. The owner and their técnico handle those applications; we work with that documentation and fit our dates to it. Where no skip can stand, we load straight onto a small lorry in short trips.
Terraces, walls and owners who are not on site
Alongside pools, the most common jobs here are enclosed terraces that are being opened up again, old barbecue corners and garden sheds, and block walls that divide stepped gardens. These are covered by our terrace and outbuilding demolition and wall and fence removal services. If your house is part of a community of owners, check first whether the wall or terrace is a common element: works affecting common elements need the agreement of the owners' meeting.
Rubble is sorted on site and delivered to an authorised facility, and you get the receipts. You can write to us in English and follow the job through photos. For demolishing a whole house or a larger building, see demolition in Benalmádena on our sister site; for what to ask before you decide, read questions owners ask before removing a pool.

Full or partial removal of concrete and block pools, including coping, pool beach and plant room, with sorted rubble and compacted backfill.
Terrace demolition, pergola removal and outbuilding demolition

Frequently asked questions
Do you need a permit to put a skip on the street in Benalmádena?
Yes. The public road may not be occupied with skips or materials without a permit under the town's fiscal ordinance OF-18. The owner or their técnico applies for it.
Can you remove a pool on a terrace above my neighbour's house?
Yes. On stepped plots we usually break the pool by hand and remove the rubble in controlled loads, leaving the retaining structure in place unless a técnico says otherwise.
I have a small pool in Arroyo de la Miel. Is it worth filling it in?
Often yes, especially if you want a patio or lawn. A properly drained and compacted infill turns it into usable garden space.
Do you work in Torrequebrada and La Perla-Torremuelle?
Yes, across Benalmádena Costa and the hillside estates, as well as in Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Pueblo.
Can you open up an enclosed terrace?
Yes. We remove the added walls, glazing and roof and leave the original terrace, provided your técnico confirms nothing structural depends on them.
What if no lorry can reach my house?
We load in smaller quantities and move the material to the nearest point a lorry can reach, which takes more trips but works on almost any street.
How is access handled when I am not there?
We arrange it with your key holder, gardener, property manager or community administrator, and confirm each visit in writing.
Can an old pool be turned into garden?
Yes. Once the shell is broken out or filled in and compacted, topsoil goes on top and the area can be planted or laid to lawn.
Can you remove a pool that is still full of water?
No. The pool has to be empty before demolition begins; we agree with you beforehand who drains it and when.
Can you demolish a pool in a protected area?
In protected buildings, protected settings or archaeological zones the demolition needs a licencia urbanística rather than a declaración responsable. Your técnico handles the application.
