Pool removal in Manilva, Sabinillas and La Duquesa

We handle pool removal in Manilva – San Luis de Sabinillas, Puerto de la Duquesa and Castillo de la Duquesa – for holiday homes, townhouse complexes and villas whose owners mostly live abroad.

In short

In Manilva we fill in or remove private and community pools, demolish terraces and garden walls, and clear the plot afterwards. Manilva is the westernmost coastal municipality of Málaga province, and its coastal strip around Sabinillas and La Duquesa is dominated by holiday complexes and villas with owners abroad. Near the Roman remains at Castillo de la Duquesa, heritage rules may apply.

Holiday complexes and villas on the western edge of the province

Manilva belongs to the Costa del Sol Occidental and is the westernmost coastal municipality of Málaga province, on the border with Cádiz. Its coastal strip includes Sabinillas and the La Duquesa marina, and much of the housing there consists of apartment and townhouse complexes and villas built as holiday homes. Many are owned by people who visit a few times a year.

That produces two main kinds of job:

  • Community pools in complexes where the owners have decided to replace a pool, reduce it, or turn part of it into garden – a decision that must come from the owners' meeting first.
  • Private villa pools that are filled in through a pool infill or removed completely through a pool demolition when the owner wants a different garden or a new pool.

When the owners live elsewhere: planning a job remotely

For a holiday home in Manilva, the owner is usually not there when the work happens, and in a complex the administrator is often the main contact. We organise the job so that nobody has to fly over: photos and measurements are sent by e-mail or WhatsApp, we answer in English, a key holder or the community lets us in, and you receive photos at each stage – the empty pool, the broken shell, the backfill and the finished surface.

In a complex, the community's rules on working hours, access for lorries and protection of common areas apply, and many prefer work outside the summer season. Agreeing those points in advance avoids stopping the job halfway.

Roman remains at Castillo de la Duquesa

Roman remains of a fish-processing factory, a villa and a bathhouse survive at Castillo de la Duquesa. Since 2024, the demolition of constructions in Andalusia is generally processed by declaración responsable, but demolition in an archaeological zone or in a protected setting still needs a licencia urbanística. If your property is close to these remains, ask your técnico to confirm with the Ayuntamiento de Manilva which procedure applies before anything is booked.

For other parts of the municipality, the right procedure is also checked with the ayuntamiento first, and a skip on the public road needs an occupation authorisation. The owner and their técnico handle those applications; we work with their documentation.

In a beachside complex near the marina, that permit question is practical as well as legal: the street outside is often the only place a lorry can wait, so it pays to agree the loading point with the administrator before the date is fixed.

Terraces, vineyard plots and clearing up

Inland, Manilva's Muscat vineyards are used for raisins and wine, and some rural plots there have small stores, sheds and old terraces that owners want taken down. On the coast, jobs often include terraces, pergolas and pool plant rooms around the pool. These are handled under terrace and outbuilding demolition.

At the end we remove the rubble and leave a basic, compacted level through our plot clearance after demolition. Material is sorted on site and taken to an authorised facility, with the receipts sent to you. For the demolition of a whole house, see house demolition in Manilva on our sister site, and if you are still deciding, read the best ways to deal with a pool you no longer use.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Sabinillas and around Puerto de la Duquesa?

Yes. We cover the whole municipality of Manilva, including San Luis de Sabinillas, Puerto de la Duquesa and Castillo de la Duquesa.

Our complex wants to remove one of its two pools. Where do we start?

With an agreement of the owners' meeting. Then the administrator and the community's técnico can plan the job with us.

Is my property near the Roman remains affected?

It may be. Demolition in an archaeological zone or protected setting needs a licence, so ask your técnico to check with the ayuntamiento.

Can the whole job be done while I am in the UK?

Yes. You send photos, a key holder or the community provides access, and you receive photos at each stage.

Can you remove a shed on a vineyard plot inland?

Yes, small stores and sheds on rural plots are part of our work, with any fibre-cement roof removed by a RERA-registered subcontractor.

When is the best time to remove a community pool?

Usually outside the summer season, when fewer residents use the complex. The community decides the dates and working hours.

Do you work with my architect or builder?

Yes. We work from your técnico's documentation and coordinate dates with your architect, builder or landscaper.

Do you clear land with only vegetation on it?

Pure vegetation clearing is not a standard service. Ask us and we will tell you whether we can help or who to contact.

How do you protect the rest of the garden?

We agree the machine route in advance, protect paving and paths where needed and keep the work area fenced off.

Is a health and safety study needed?

Every construction or demolition job has a safety and health study or a basic study, depending on its size, and the contractor prepares its own safety plan from it.
