In short
In Torremolinos we fill in or remove private and community pools, demolish terraces and garden structures, and clear the plot afterwards. As the first Costa del Sol resort developed for tourism, from the late 1950s, the town has many older apartment complexes and chalets whose pools and terraces are now being renewed. Most jobs involve a community of owners, tight access and a skip permit for the street.
An early resort with pools from several decades
Torremolinos sits on the western shore of the Bay of Málaga and was the first Costa del Sol resort to be developed for tourism, from the late 1950s. It became a separate municipality from Málaga by Decree 283/1988. Some areas have older high-rise residential buildings and hotels, and new construction is subject to height limits. Behind the beach, which runs for almost eight kilometres, chalets with gardens fill the streets of Montemar and the areas around La Carihuela.
The pools we are asked about reflect that history: community pools in older apartment blocks, many with plant rooms below ground, and chalet pools in gardens that have been reshaped several times. Some are filled in to gain a terrace through a pool infill; others are removed through a full pool demolition so a new, smaller pool can be built.
Community pools: the owners' meeting comes first
In an apartment complex, the pool and the gardens around it are normally common elements. Under the Ley de Propiedad Horizontal, works affecting common elements need the agreement of the owners' meeting, so the first step is a decision of the community, not a quote. Once that is in place, the administrator and the community's técnico can plan the job with us.
What we agree with the community before starting:
- the route for material from the pool to the street, and how lifts, halls and gardens are protected;
- working hours that respect residents, and dates outside the busiest season if possible;
- what happens to the pool plant room, pipes and any underground tank;
- which part of the surrounding paving stays and which is lifted.
La Carihuela and El Bajondillo: little room on the street
In La Carihuela and El Bajondillo, close to the seafront promenade, many streets are narrow and some are pedestrian. A skip may not fit at all, and a lorry may only stand briefly. In those cases we break the pool or terrace by hand, bag the rubble and load small vehicles in short slots. Wherever a skip or lorry does occupy the public road, a municipal authorisation is needed.
Each ayuntamiento sets its own documents and timings for demolition in its ordinance, and in Torremolinos the procedure should be confirmed by your técnico with the town hall before work starts. We work with that documentation and do not file it ourselves. Every load is sorted on site and delivered to an authorised facility, with the receipts passed to you.
Terraces, chalet gardens and clearing up
In the chalet streets of Montemar and Playamar, owners often want more than the pool gone: an enclosed porch opened up again, an old barbecue corner or a storeroom taken down, or the space behind the house cleared for a new design. These jobs fall under our terrace and outbuilding demolition service. If a storeroom roof is fibre cement that may contain asbestos, that part is removed by a RERA-registered company working as our subcontractor.
At the end, the rubble is cleared and the ground left level through our plot clearance service. You can manage everything in English from abroad. For demolishing a whole building, see demolition in Torremolinos on our sister site, and for a broader look at the choice, read pool demolition versus pool infill.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Montemar, La Carihuela and Playamar?
Yes. We cover the whole of Torremolinos, including El Bajondillo and the chalet streets between the main districts.
Our community wants to fill in its pool. What do we need first?
An agreement of the owners' meeting, because the pool is normally a common element. After that, the administrator and the community's técnico plan the job with us.
Can you work where no skip fits on the street?
Yes. The pool or terrace is broken by hand, the rubble is bagged and small vehicles are loaded in short slots.
What happens to the pool plant room underneath?
That is decided with the community's técnico. It can be emptied and filled with the pool, or kept and reused as storage if it is structurally independent.
Who confirms the procedure with the Ayuntamiento de Torremolinos?
Your técnico. Each town hall sets its own documents in its ordinance, and we start once the procedure has been confirmed.
Can you remove a storeroom with a fibre-cement roof?
Yes. The roof is removed by a RERA-registered subcontractor under its own approved work plan, and we demolish the rest.
Can a pool be removed in winter?
Yes, and many owners prefer it because the garden is not in use. Heavy rain can pause backfilling, since wet fill should not be compacted.
Do I need a técnico for a pool removal?
The technical documentation that the ayuntamiento asks for is prepared and signed by a técnico competente. Its scope depends on the job and the town hall.
Can you remove a jacuzzi or a fountain?
Yes. Built-in hot tubs, fountains, ponds and water features are demolished like a small pool, with fittings removed first.
Can a filled-in pool be dug out again later?
Yes, the fill can be excavated again, but the remaining lower shell then has to be removed too. If you think you may build there, full removal from the start avoids paying twice.
